Possibilities

Image in your head, a contradiction
Perception wages war on reality
Enveloped, dense, cold fog of memories
Thoughts intertwining, serpentine
Sleep, elusive to the weary
Decisions made, ever present, by time, past
At once determine, determined, determining
Strike first and become the stricken
Elevated, caution forgotten or misplaced
Defeated suddenly, no warning
Cry out in endless wondering
Infinite cycle, always beginning
Forever transformed, sculpted masterpiece
Revealed exclusively to the living
Breath symbolizes naught,
Light encompasses all

Perfect - Pink

Made a wrong turn
Once or twice
Dug my way out
Blood and fire
Bad decisions
That’s alright
Welcome to my silly life
Mistreated, misplaced, missunderstood
Miss, no way it’s all good
It didn’t slow me down
Mistaken
Always second guessing
Underestimated
Look, I’m still around…
Pretty, pretty please
Don’t you ever, ever feel
Like you’re less than
less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
You are perfect to me
You’re so mean
When you talk
About yourself
You are wrong
Change the voices
In your head
Make them like you
Instead
So complicated
Look how big you’ll make it
Filled with so much hatred
Such a tired game
It’s enough
I’ve done all i can think of
Chased down all my demons
see you do the same
Pretty, pretty please
Don’t you ever, ever feel
Like you’re less than
less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please
If you ever, ever feel
Like you’re nothing
You are perfect to me
The whole world stares while i swallow the fear
The only thing i should be drinking is an ice cold beer
So cool in lying and we tried tried tried
But we try too hard, it’s a waste of my time
Done looking for the critics, cuz they’re everywhere
They don’t like my genes, they don’t get my hair
Strange ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that?
Why do I do that?
Why do I do that?
Ooh, pretty pretty pretty,
Pretty pretty please don’t you ever ever feel
Like you’re less than
less than perfect
Pretty pretty please if you ever ever feel
Like you’re nothing
you are perfect to me
You’re perfect
You’re perfect to me
Pretty, pretty please if you ever ever feel
like you’re less than, less than perfect
Pretty, pretty please if you ever ever feel
like you’re nothing
you are perfect to me

Even Playing Field

Red dust field transformed to lifeblood
Becomes a player, newly born
Once loved, now shunned, face down in mud
Questions, why the sudden scorn

Each fleck of dust while in the air
Floats lightly, beauty to behold
But landing, trampled unaware
Returns to dirt, no love unfolds

Gifts unseen by blinded eye
Losing, gains what once was cherished
Spectators standing idly by
Tarnished seen, however burnished

Deaf ears, executioner of choice
Views refuse to transform broader
Faith cries out with unheard voice
One fleck does not transcend another

Legacy 3/30/11

Mother,
What memories linger, what choices made
What legacy given, what childhood gave

What innocence squandered, what left was gaunt
What motherhood wasted, what’s left is haunt

What love was taken, what tenderness withheld
What knowledge refused, what query was quelled

What dreams were broken, what frozen was warm
What strength was wasted, what courage was torn

What trust was given, what conviction was sold
What words were spoken, what lies were told

What light was diminished, what faith has died
What is left now,
What Heaven denied,
Daughter

Plea

Render us blind to fault, to love easily
Immune to differences, to live equally
Deaf to criticism, to live without judgment
Naïve to guile, and so be free
Full of hope, to see without fear
Selfless, to live for others
Empathetic, to feel deeply
Faithful, to not falter
Strong, to carry all burdens
Humble, to surrender ourselves
Tender, that we forever caress

Wolves

This is a cold, cruel and harsh world full of ordinary looking people who are secretly searching for ways to use, hurt or destroy others.  Murderers.  They aren’t necessarily ending a life as in death, rather they murder others by their slander, deceit and crafty, sneaky ways.  They disguise their evil ways, whispering the word, love.  And they rape your very soul.  If you do not take the time to recognize them, you allow them to grow in evil and gain power over you.  If you do not take the time to strengthen and protect yourself, to hold your true self back from the undeserving, to hide your tenderness and emotion, they may succeed in destroying you.  If you resort to self-destructive behaviors, then you have lost and evil has won.

Do what you must to remove them from your life.  Rely only on the few people you can truly trust, those who have proven their love to you over and over, even in times of despair and weakness, yours or theirs.  Do all in your power to repair the damage the wolves have done. Rebuild your life, put aside the false, weak person they would have you believe you are from the outside in and become the genuine, strong, loving person you know you are from the inside out, from your heart and soul.  And as you build yourself up, slowly begin to look around you and you will see others waiting, with their hands outstretched to join you in your happy journey.  Sometimes you will lift them and sometimes they you.

Become all-powerful in your life, take complete control of your decisions, actions, emotions and relationships.  Act, do not react, but instead, act.  Never let the wolves in again.  You know them.  You feel them.  They are destroyers of light and life.  Search out builders and growers, like you.  Be aware of the wolves.  Search their motives, see their guile, because we all have motives, good or bad, and listen to your inner self.  Find the peace to hear your soul.  Love yourself that much.  Respect your life that much.  You are in charge.  This is it.  Your Life.  Your Decisions.  Your Destiny.  Your future begins when you understand this:  There is no dwelling on guilt or regret, only gaining of experience and knowledge, and ultimately wisdom.  You are beautiful and rare.  You are perfect.  Stay the course…
